Citytech's Insider Peek into Law Firm Technology

10:38 am

It is always fun to feel like an insider—to pick up on the inside joke that might fly pass those who are not as in, or to gain a glimpse into an organization or person that will not show up in sales materials or personal resumes.  The online London-based Citytech publication gives you that feeling.  The interviews with technology notables in the legal community have a bit of innocent irreverence that you will not find in the mainstream legal community media.  You get the feeling that those interviewed by editor Karen Jones are relaxed and simply having a conversation. Their comments seem more straightforward, honest and unguarded.  You are on the inside, not just getting the “official” line.  Somehow, the British accent and mindset comes through the printed words. Their brains seem wired just a little differently from our American puritan brains. and in that difference I find humor and insight.

Unfortunately, mainstream media writers have often written their stories based on personal opinions and biases long before carrying out interviews in pursuit of quotes to support the position they are pushing in their articles.  Citytech seems largely free of that.

Citytech is always an easy and quick read.  It is a bit offbeat but serious when it comes to its mission.  Citytech is dedicated to the global technology industry with a primary focus on professional practices in the U.K. and USA  It features topical technology news, vendors, products, people profiles, case studies, fantasy legal IT and regular anonymous feedback on hot topics from hot shots in the industry – both vendors and purchasers. It covers U.K. and U.S. -vendors and those involved with professional practices. It is a weekly, 12-page, PDF newsletter.   It is free to law firm purchasers and costs £500 + vat ($1000) for an organization-wide subscription per year for vendors.  There are no forms to fill out.  To subscribe, just e-mail subscriptions@j-p-c.tv .
